Detail

Crime types in Las Vegas, explained

Motor Vehicle Theft

Vehicle theft and break-ins are common across the valley, with parking garages on and near the Strip and large apartment complexes frequent targets.

Theft / Larceny

Theft is the highest-volume offense by far, heavily inflated by pickpocketing and property crime in the resort corridor as well as retail theft valley-wide.

Burglary

Residential burglaries fall more often on older central and east valley neighborhoods than on the gated, master-planned communities to the west and northwest.

Aggravated Assault

Aggravated assaults concentrate along the Strip, downtown, and east Fremont, where nightlife and dense activity drive a large share of violent incidents.

Robbery

Robberies cluster around the resort corridor, convenience stores, and busy intersections, often tied to tourist-heavy and late-night settings.

Homicide

Homicides are relatively uncommon for a metro this size and stay concentrated in the central and resort corridors rather than the residential suburbs.
